Who is Explore Whitefish? We're glad you asked! We're kicking off our Employee Spotlights - a weekly series celebrating the incredible individuals behind our organization. Stay tuned each week as we shine a light on the people who make Explore Whitefish what it is. First up, Executive Director Zak Anderson. 1. What is your favorite part about working for Explore Whitefish?  👉🏻Representing the community I love. Whitefish is a special place and it's the people in the community (as much as the geography) that makes it so special.   2. Favorite fun fact about Montana, NW Montana, or Whitefish?  👉🏻Before it officially became “Big Mountain,” early settlers and forest rangers considered naming it Hellroaring Mountain, after Hellroaring Creek, which flows on its western slope. The name reflected the rugged terrain and the intense winds that “roared” through the canyons. Early U.S. Forest Service maps and documents from the 1920s and ’30s used the name "Hellroaring" informally to refer to the peak. Ultimately, the more literal -- and less heretical/controversial -- name “Big Mountain” was chosen, 3. What is something you do to recharge? 👉🏻In the Winter it's definitely skiing. In the Spring and Summer it's floating the river with family and friends and in the Fall it's hard to beat a hike in Glacier Park.   4. Song Choice? 👉🏻 "Golden Age" by Chris Staples. (fb)
