To provide a safe, comfortable, homelike environment for Somerset County residents in need of emergency shelter. To make referrals to agencies, provide accurate and useful information that will encourage self-sufficiency and enable them to obtain safe, affordable, permanent housing.

Welcome Welcome Through the generosity of county residents Next Step Center is a fully operational emergency shelter. Weprovide a temporary home for Somerset County families and individuals up to 30 days enabling them to work towards a resolution of issues that might have led to homelessness. We do this by referrals to other county agencies for potential assistance and inhouse counseling. Our policy is to offer a helping hand not a handout.
