👀 Tibetan woodblock print with writing in English! 👀 BDRC is currently digitizing 150 Tibetan texts from our founder’s personal collection. These old texts are very important for Dharma teachings, translation, and research – but they rare and fragile and currently unpublished. You can help preserve them and make them freely available on the web by supporting the preservation of a volume for $108. For the next two weeks we will feature a ‘text of the day’ so you can learn about the many gems in this special collection. Today’s text is visually striking an sets the theme of this campaign. It is a woodblock print carved in Nepal in 1976 – in the immediate aftermath of the Cultural Revolution – under the direction of Sangye Tenzin Rinpoche of Serlo Monastery in the Everest region of Nepal. The sponsorship of this undertaking was international and the colophon even includes a section in English that names the foreign donors. Just as the renowned lama Sangye Tenzin Rinpoche, his Himalayan community, and Western students cooperatively created a new set of woodblocks of these “rare and valuable teachings,” now we have the opportunity to create a digital woodblock print of them. Please donate $108 to help make this happen. This text is Jamgon Mipham’s commentary on Shantarakshita's The Adornment of the Middle, Madhyamakalankara. དབུ་མ་རྒྱན་གྱི་རྣམ་བཤད་འཇམ་དབྱངས་བླ་མ་དགྱེས་པའི་ཞལ་ལུང་། Photo of the gate of Serlo Gompa Monastery © Josef Essl/Trail Angels (fb)

🙏 Your support is making a difference! 🙏 Dear community, we're so grateful for the amazing response to our campaign to digitize rare Tibetan Buddhist texts! Thanks to the kindness of 66 donors from around the globe, we've reached an incredible 70% of our fundraising goal. Each donation, often around $108 USD to sponsor a volume (with some of you sponsoring multiple volumes!), is bringing us closer to providing free, universal access to these invaluable resources. Imagine the impact of digitizing the remaining texts! Just 32 more contributions of $108 will allow us to make this happen quickly. We hope our "text of the day" posts have given you a glimpse into the beauty and significance of these Buddhist books. There are dozens and dozens more that need to be digitally preserved, cataloged, and published online. Thank you for partnering with the Buddhist Digital Resource Center (BDRC) to digitally preserve this precious heritage for practitioners and scholars worldwide. ➡️ Join us in reaching our goal: https://bdrc.app.neoncrm.com/forms/35 Warmly, Jann Ronis Executive Director Buddhist Digital Resource Center (fb)
