We are so proud of Harbor alum Gabe Finger, who recently presented his discovery of a potentially new salamander species at the Long Island Natural History Conference at Stony Brook University! ⁠ ⁠ At Harbor, we loved supporting Gabe in his passion for wildlife—we remember when he was setting snake traps in our outdoor classroom! His latest discovery came after the collapse of the Mill Pond dam in August 2024, when he and some friends found a previously unidentified salamander species. Now, he’s working with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory to conduct genetic analysis and confirm its identity.⁠ ⁠ Congratulations, Gabe!
