Community Awareness Network for a Drugfree Life and Environment, Inc.

CANDLE Rockland

Provides supportive services to the LGBTQIA+ youth of Rockland County, NY and mental health services for youth 4 to 21 and their families. At CANDLE our mission is to make the lives of youth in our community better by minimizing some of the factors that contribute to problematic drug and alcohol use. It is our belief that if you give children the support, skills and safety they need now, that it will improve all our tomorrows. At CANDLE we understand that systems of inequality exist in this country. Inequality and oppression make children more vulnerable to trauma, mental health challenges and substance misuse. It was this understanding that prompted CANDLE to start programs for LGBTQ+ youth in the mid-90s. Through our Youth Pride Initiative we offer training for youth serving professionals, parents and the community as well as weekly support and our annual retreat.
