@pearlmillingcompany annually gives 1 million in grants for nonprofit organizations making a p.e.a.r.l impact in their communities, like lowernine.org! this year we were lucky enough to receive this grant. the funds will be used to support Black women fighting food insecurity. this program will engage 5 black females, ages 15 to 22 who live in district E of new orleans, of all aspects of creating food security for their communities. the group will be led and mentored by long term neighborhood pillars, who have experience in catering, food preparation, business leadership, corrections and reentry, and promote personal empowerment. together we will work to promote the p.e.a.r.l pledge pillars: prosperity: alleviating systemic barriers and inequities in areas such as food, housing, employment, financial support, and generational wealth. empowerment: inspiring and encouraging Black women and girls to attain holistic wellness and success in areas such as confidence building, self-esteem, and mental and physical health. access: enhancing equal opportunity to education and entrepreneurship in areas such as scholarships, grants, capital, and financial literacy. representation: elevating Black women and girls in the areas such as culinary arts, food innovation, science, and media support. leadership: advancing skill development and access to resources for emerging talent in areas such as public speaking, strategic thinking, teambuilding, and mentorship. . . . . #lower9thward #neworleans #foodsecurity#nonprofit#commujityimpact#prosperity#empowerment#access#representation#leadership#mentorship#Blackwomen#Blackgirls#Blackgirlmagic#rebuilding#restoring#reviving#reachingout #fightingfoodinsecurity#districtEneworleans (fb)
