Our mission is to ensure continued public access to these irreplaceable treasures by underwriting their conservation, cataloging, digitization, and exhibition, thereby sustaining the library in its most fundamental mission: to provide free educational resources to all citizens of the Commonwealth, while preserving knowledge, culture, and history for the benefit of society at large.

The Associates of the Boston Public Library are proud to launch the Illustrated Children’s Book Fellowship, a prestigious new opportunity for emerging New England writers developing original illustrated books for children ages 0–10. This year-long fellowship offers a $25,000 stipend, with an additional $2,500 available for editorial or coaching support. The manuscript completed during the fellowship will be preserved in the Boston Public Library’s Archives.
