Last month at our Evening Celebrating Resilience, we were thrilled to have Professor Bob Gurland join us in honoring Joseph Di Salvo, longtime supporter of The Child Center of NY and our 2025 Voice of Resilience Award winner. Di Salvo's new documentary, Bronx Socrates: The Extraordinary Legacy of Professor Bob Gurland, explores the value and the impact of a great teacher — something we see firsthand every day at The Child Center. Through a combination of interviews with and about Gurland, Bronx Socrates documents the life and career of an extraordinary teacher, mentor, and friend to countless students for well more than a half-century.
