SPARC Inc.
SPARC enhances the lives of people with developmental disabilities through high quality therapeutic recreation activities. Participants work on skill development in a nurturing social community that does not otherwise exist in their lives. SPARC Inc. (Special Program And Resource Connection) is a nonprofit agency for underserved people with intellectual developmental disabilities (like Autism, Down Syndrome and other diagnoses). Since 1989 SPARC has offered a wide range of recreational, arts, athletic and wellness programs for isolated Westchester, NY special needs community members aged 5 through adulthood, and has provided respite to their families and caregivers. Participants work on social and life skill development in a joyous, nurturing social community that does not otherwise exist in their lives. Programs enable participants to learn, seek employment, attend college or simply live fulfilling, independent lives. We serve 1,500 members a year, including 5 schools, 30 teen programs, 10 adult programs and 5 group homes.
