Reggie Update ❤ Our nervous friend, Reggie, busted out of the shelter yesterday! While we didn’t have a confirmed foster home ready, we did have a plan. We picked him up and got him into boarding for the weekend with our vet partner, Augusta Valley Animal Hospital, so he could finally have a little peace and quiet — and start to let his worries go. While he's there, he’ll see the vet, get caught up on preventative care, and have his teeth looked at to determine the best plan moving forward and ensure he’s not in any pain. He heads to an experienced temporary foster on Tuesday, where we’ll get to know him a bit more before placing him in a long-term foster or adoptive home. For dogs like Reggie — scared and shut down — we’re never quite sure what to expect once they’re in our program and their confidence starts to grow. While the shelter does their absolute best, it’s still a loud and stressful place, and we often don’t see the real personalities of dogs like Reggie until they’ve had time to decompress in a calmer, more predictable environment. Reggie has already shown us that he wants to trust people. We know that a few weeks in a relaxed setting, with no pressure and plenty of patience, is exactly what he needs to begin showing the world who he really is. We’re committed to setting Reggie up for success — and that means finding him a home where he’s understood, accepted, and loved for who he is. Welcome to DDBBR, Reggie.
