We work to inspire philanthropy, responsibly manage charitable assets, and partner with others to address key community issues through strategic leadership. We provide grants and scholarships through almost 200 donor advised, designated, and field of interest funds as well as from unrestricted funds. We work primarily in the towns of Berlin, New Britain, Plainville & Southington, Connecticut although donor advised fund representatives may make grants from their funds to any nonprofit in the United States.

Honoring Our 2025 Alma Exley Scholars ✨ On April 2nd, the Alma Exley Scholarship Reception brought together supporters in person and online—including Veronica Alvarenga’s family abroad, who tuned in to celebrate her achievement. 🎓 Scholarship Recipients 🏆 Veronica Alvarenga – Literacy Reading Interventionist advocating for representation in education, moved by her brother’s remarks after nearly 25 years apart. 🏆 Carter Newman – Elementary Education graduate from UConn’s Neag School of Education, recognized for his leadership in fostering diverse classrooms.

Janis Jerman, our board Chair, had a wonderful time attending the open house for Southington Animal Control, a project proudly funded by the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain.
