Stanley Medical Research Institute Research On Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder The Stanley Medical Research Institute SMRI is a nonprofit organization supporting research on the causes of and treatments for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Since it began in 1989 SMRI has supported more than 550 million in research in over 30 countries around the world. Treatment Trial Grants This program supports the testing of medications to assess their efficacy for treating schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. At any given time SMRI is supporting 4050 treatment trials the majority of which are generic andor offlabel medications.
