The Horticultural Society of New York

The mission of The Hort is to improve human life through horticulture. We improve human life through horticulture. The mission of The Horticultural Society of New York (The Hort) is to sustain the vital connection between people and plants. There is a growing body of evidence that the act of cultivating plants, proximity to trees and plant life, and time spent in greenspaces aid in the treatment of mental illness, improve well-being, and reduce health inequalities. Our social service and public programs educate and inspire, growing a broad community that values horticulture for the many benefits it brings to our environment, our neighborhoods, and our lives.
