History of the 119th New York Infantry Regiment

The 119th New York Infantry Regiment was part of the Union Army during the American Civil War. Organized at New York City, it mustered into service on September 4, 1862, under the command of Colonel Elias Peissner. The regiment participated in several pivotal battles, including Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, and the Atlanta campaign, before being mustered out on June 8, 1865[2][3].

Activities and Recognition

The Association is recognized for its commitment to transparency, having received the Guidestar Silver Seal of Transparency, a distinction awarded to only the top 2% of nonprofits evaluated by Guidestar[1]. Through its work, the Association contributes to the preservation of historical knowledge about the Civil War and the experiences of those who served in it.
