Hanover Hockey Association Inc
Overview
Hanover Hockey Association Inc (HHA) is a non-profit organization focused on promoting youth ice hockey. It operates under the National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities (NTEE) category of Recreation, Sports, Leisure, Athletics, specifically within Winter Sports (Snow and Ice). The organization is designated as a 501(c)(3) entity, meaning donations to it are tax-deductible[1].
Mission
The primary mission of Hanover Hockey Association is to teach youths the skills of ice hockey. The programs are designed to emphasize basic skating, stick handling, and passing skills, later focusing on team-oriented skills. HHA aims to encourage a healthy sense of competition and teamwork among participants. It also strives to make hockey programs affordable for as many families as possible, offering limited financial support to those in need[3].
Operations
- Program Offerings: HHA offers various age and skill-level appropriate teams, including co-ed and girls' teams across different age groups (e.g., U10, U12, U14)[4].
- Financials: In recent years, the organization's revenue has come primarily from program services, with contributions and other revenue sources also playing a role. Expenses are largely focused on supporting these programs[1].
Governance and Leadership
The organization is managed by a board of directors and officers, who volunteer their time without compensation. This includes positions such as President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and multiple directors[1].
Community Engagement
Hanover Hockey Association is part of the New Hampshire Amateur Hockey Association network, connecting with other youth hockey organizations in the region to facilitate development and competition for young players[4].
Affiliated Facilities and Initiatives
While not directly responsible for facilities, HHA likely benefits from local infrastructure such as the Campion Rink, which has been involved in significant fundraising efforts for renovations[2]. However, its primary role is in program management rather than facility operation or maintenance.
