A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who contributed and supported Global India Fund and Samhita's #TogetherForIndia COVID-19 campaign. Every dollar made a difference and no contribution was too small - together, we made a meaningful difference. In a few short weeks, we raised $1.2M with every cent going to India. Together, we supported 230,000 vaccinations in low income and rural communities across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat; 780 oxygen concentrators for primary health centers in Madhya Pradesh and Punjab; 12,000 SHG-95 reusable masks in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. And we continue our work to vaccinate those who are often left behind. This morning, our founder, Dr. Amita Vyas, spoke at a panel on 'Global Diaspora helps Heal India’, hosted by Indiaspora, India@75, and Confederation of Indian Industry. The panelists discussed the role of the diaspora community in providing aid to battle India’s second wave of #COVID19 and what more can be done to support India. "People want to understand and give to the community ... They want to be connected, irrespective of how much they are doing. When the Pandemic hit India there was a surge of giving and wanting to give. We took a slightly long-term view and focussed on vaccinations.
