The Center for Urban Pedagogy (CUP) is a nonprofit that uses the power of design and art to increase meaningful civic engagement. The Center for Urban Pedagogy (CUP) is a nonprofit organization that uses the power of design and art CUP uses the power of design and art to increase meaningful civic engagement, in partnership with marginalized communities directly impacted by public policy and decision-making processes. We collaborate with communities and skilled designers to create easy-to-understand, visual publications and media that provide individuals the tools to claim their rights, advocate for their needs, and fight for social justice. We also collaborate with high school students to use project-based arts and civics programs to explore timely questions about how the places we live are shaped, and how to be part of that decision-making. Together, our programs support marginalized communities' own visions for change, and turn information into power.
