Today, we honor Juneteenth, a celebration of Black freedom, resilience, and the ongoing struggle for justice. Juneteenth recognizes the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States, commemorating the day, June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved people in Texas were informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, we reflect on what it means to build a future where all people have the opportunity to heal, thrive, and live with dignity.
