Meet Dr. Andreas Lazaris. He’s a family medicine doctor, HIV specialist, and Assistant Medical Director at Janian Medical Care. His work brings primary care and harm reduction directly to New Yorkers experiencing homelessness. On May 12th, at the National Health Care for the Homeless Conference & Policy Symposium, Dr. Lazaris led an engaging workshop on Hepatitis C treatment across the housing continuum. In New York City, 1 in 5 people with chronic Hepatitis C are unhoused. Dr. Lazaris shared how Janian provides treatment from the street to supportive housing—and told real stories of patients who’ve been cured.
