The National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers is a national non-profit organization The National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers (NCSHPO) fosters communication among the State Historic Preservation Officers (SHPO) and represents them and their views at the national level. NCSHPO is the association of the gubernatorially appointed officials who carry out the National Historic Preservation Act (16 USC 470) for the Secretary of the Interior and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. NCSHPO facilitates communication among the SHPOs and represents them at the national level with Congress, the Administration and the private sector.
