LOTS of changes for these sweet “L” babies. They grew and grew… and then their ears dropped and they got long flowing manes! Our best guess is that they are lionhead/lop mixes. Luca was neutered recently and we are trying to keep these sweeties as a bonded pair forever. Lily’s spay will be scheduled when she’s about 6 months old and in the meantime they are still babies learning about the world around them. We know there’s still a chance their bond could dismantle- and while we’re doing everything we can to keep them bonded, we’ll need an adopter who understands all of the moving parts. Luca & Lily could be ready for the *right* rabbit savvy home, but they’re still very young and Lily still has her spay and recovery ahead of her. We will likely hold onto them until after Lily recovers from her spay surgery. These two are the sweetest, most curious babies, and we are thrilled to watch them GROW! Also- thank you to the most generous rescue family- the Sypeck family (aka Millie’s family)- for sponsoring Luca’s neuter! 💗 #lilyandlucatherescuedrabbits #hugabunnyrabbitrescue (fb)

This feed needs some HAPPINESS. Formally introducing our babies Lily and Luca! Can you even take this cuteness??? These two came into our county shelter with a third sick rabbit after someone had overbred rabbits in their home. We had one open space after an adoption and agreed to take in these sweet peas so that they can have a chance at a bond forever (they would have had to be split in the shelter since they are unaltered and opposite genders). They were TINY, probably about 6 weeks. Taking in little babies is quite the commitment as it’s often longer-term, they need to be taught how to use the litterbox and are quite active and messy, BUT it’s so rewarding watching babies grow and change. We are hoping that we will be able to preserve the bond between them in getting each of them neutered (Luca first!) and then spayed (Lily will be done when she’s big enough) as early as we can, but only time will tell if they will be able to remain as a bonded pair. For now, they are so loved and they are growing like weeds! Bonded pairs are twice the fun and twice the cuteness and these two are the best. They eat A LOT, have perfected the binky (the rabbit happy jump), and are using the litterbox like champs! We are still working on one small issue which is that they came to us with a treatable parasite (which we weren’t surprised about knowing where they came from). They were treated with a course of medication- we will have their poop retested again soon and hopefully we’ll be in the clear! Otherwise they’re perfectly healthy and we just adore their sweet innocent personalities. We don’t know exactly what breed they are, but their ears are starting to drop, and their manes are starting to grow! Possibly lionhead/lop mixes? Whatever mix they are, they are perfect. Check back for more updates and photos as they continue to grow and change! #lilyandlucatherescuedrabbits #hugabunnyrabbitrescue (fb)
