Envirofit evolved from research at the Colorado State University Engines and Energy Conversion Laboratory (EECL), a world leader in designing energy-efficient, low-emissions engines. Founded in October 2003, our mission is to bring cleaner technologies to the developing world. Envirofit uses a participatory development approach, delivering appropriate technologies and viable business models to attack chronic environmental problems such as air pollution. An estimated 3?6 million people die each year as a result of air pollution. Because of the chronic nature of air pollution, and the fact that its impacts fall disproportionately on the poor, it is not always recognized for its pervasive role in poor health, poverty and economic stagnation.
