Remembering visionary artist Robb Stull (1967-2025), whose revolutionary work with the Museum of the National Center of Afro-American Artists changed the landscape for Black comic book artists in America. In 1994, recognizing that many talented Black artists in his field remained invisible despite their contributions, Stull approached the NCAAA with a groundbreaking idea. This collaboration birthed "Sequential Art: The Next Step," a pioneering exhibition that not only elevated appreciation for comic book art as a legitimate artistic medium but introduced the public to more than fifteen African American artists whose work had been overlooked beyond the industry. The exhibition's impact was so significant that it traveled nationally for a decade, creating unprecedented visibility for Black comic artists. From Marvel's Spider-Man to his own independent creations, Stull's artistic excellence was matched only by his commitment to advocacy through institutions like the NCAAA. His final contribution to the NCAAA community lives on in the current exhibition "Cancel Violence: Artists Speak," on display through summer 2025—a testament to his lifelong dedication to using art as a tool for social change and representation. #RobbStull #NCAAA #SequentialArt #BlackArtists #ComicBookArt #BostonArt (fb)
