South Salem Fire Department - Westchester County, New York At 348pm SSFD along with Lewisboro VAC and a WEMS Medic were dispatched to State Route 35 in the area of Route 121 in Cross River for a multi vehicle MVA involving a bus. On scene a bus transporting eight disabled adults was found to have struck a tree head on after first colliding with another vehicle. Route 35 was shut down for a short period of time while multiple agencies worked to extricate and transport the patients from the bus. Three other persons involved declined medical assistance.

The Department will once again be marching in the Town of Lewisboro Memorial Day Parade and attending the services that follow. The parade kicks off at the intersection of Spring Street and Lake Shore Drive at 12:15pm, before finishing at the Town House where services will follow.

During this past week’s drill, our Members trained on two vehicles generously delivered to our firehouse by Sal’s Servicenter. Firefighters practiced using hydraulic tools, air bags and struts to safely stabilize the vehicles and remove crash dummies.
