Art and artists are made at MacDowell. The mission of MacDowell is to nurture the arts by offering creative individuals an inspiring environment in which they can produce enduring works of the imagination. Our admissions philosophy is that residencies are offered based on commitment to artistic practice demonstrated by work samples and the clarity of purpose expressed in applicants' project descriptions, rather than reputation or past achievements. Our ongoing outreach efforts seek to inform and encourage any artist to apply to MacDowell.
