The NYS Association of Chiefs of Police strives to educate, train, and disseminate relevant knowledge to police executives to improve police and public welfare. Founded in 1901, the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police, Inc. represents the Empire State’s professional law enforcement leaders. THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ASSOCIATION IS AN EDUCATIONAL ONE, TO GATHER, DISSEMINATE, AND PROMOTE USEFUL AND NECESSARY INFORMATION TO THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK. OUR ULTIMATE AIM AND PURPOSE IS TO DEVELOP A MORE EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE LAW. THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSOCIATION IS TO ACHIEVE PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION, UNIFORMITY OF OPERATION AND THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE GENERAL WELFARE OF THE POLICE PROFESSION THROUGH THE EDUCATION OF ITS MEMBERS.

We recognize the many challenges correctional officers face including increasingly dangerous working conditions and we support their efforts to improve workplace safety and end policies that place them at unnecessary risk. These brave men and women deserve the highest level of respect resources and protection as they perform their critical duties.
