Ashley DeLeon ’23 didn’t come to Saint Michael’s College thinking she’d work in children’s educational media, but a film class her junior year changed everything. Fast forward to today, and she’s a key member of the Ms Rachel at Songs for Littles team—one of the most successful children’s shows on YouTube and Netflix. “I wasn’t afraid to apply to big things, because I knew that I had it in me to do it. And that confidence came from St. Mike’s...I call them [Digital Media and Communications professors Kimberly Sultze and Jon Hyde] my creative enablers. No matter what big creative idea I would have, they would always encourage me to go for it and to think even bigger.” From editing and animation to starring in her own segment, Ashley is shaping the future of early childhood education through media and as Ms. Rachel expands its reach, she gets to play a key role in this growth. “I just love educating people through media.
