Continuing our celebration of Jewish American Heritage Month, we highlight Dorit Attias, a genuine expert when it comes to walking. After emigrating from Israel, she became an American citizen and joined the U.S. Army as a truck driver. Sergeant Attias still serves today as a reservist in New Jersey. However, her passion is race-walking. Unlike running, one foot must always be in contact with the ground. Attias excels at the sport and has won the U.S. Grand Prix, the New York Marathon, and countless other national races. Her current focus is the Centurion event, a 24-hour, 100-mile race-walk. Dorit dreams of completing a Centurion on every continent. Staying in peak condition means a lot of training. On top of her busy schedule, Attias is also an Animal Control Officer, a Firefighter, and an active member of the Jewish War Veterans, sharing her vast experience with our Women in the Military committee.
