Our 2025 Doggy LEAP group has been busy! • The group has visited local vet Gracey Welsh and her husband, Northwood Alum Jamie Welsh ‘03, to learn about veterinary work and dog behavior, and practiced training their pointer dogs. • Students have received hands-on dog training instruction from Kristian Hammermuellar and his daughter Natalie, focusing on basic obedience commands like “Come,” “Sit,” “Stay,” and “Down.” • Individual training sessions each day have helped students gain confidence and see early behavioral changes in their assigned dogs. • The group has enjoyed a cookout and a game of wiffle ball at Riffle Ranch.  • Students have been learning the importance of firmness in obedience training and have been introduced to compliance-based training. • The group hosted a successful fundraiser called the “Pup-Trot,” raising over $900 for the North Country SPCA. . . . . . #northwood #dog #training #learning #student #giveback #community #service #husky #huskies (fb)
