As a Community Impact Officer, Damion serves on the Basic Human Needs and Thriving Neighborhoods initiative. His portfolio spans efforts to support the region’s most vulnerable residents, with a focus on food and housing security, as well as broader systems change to transform the region and address the root causes of those hardships. He has dedicated his career to promoting stable housing and preventing homelessness for Greater Hartford residents. He shares, "This mission is especially critical amid rising rent costs, increased living expenses, and the growing number of individuals experiencing homelessness. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside many passionate and committed individuals who are deeply invested in ensuring that people receive the care they need and have access to just housing.” Previously, he led a team of Rapid Rehousing Support Specialists at Community Housing Resources (CHR), worked as a Development Project Manager with the Corporation for Independent Living—collaborating with various nonprofit organizations across Connecticut and Massachusetts—and managed transitional living programs for Mercy Housing and Shelter. Damion holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Central Connecticut State University. #Housing #FoodSecurity #Philanthropy #CommunityFoundation #GrantOfficer #Grant #BasicHumanNeeds #Hartford #Career (fb)

Roger Borrup, a pillar of East Windsor, was a founder and co-incorporator of the Connecticut Electric Railway Association — the nation’s oldest organization dedicated to preserving the Connecticut Trolley Museum. Roger’s biggest passion was preserving Connecticut history, especially the trolley era of the early 1900s. After helping secure the museum’s site in 1926, he served as general manager and negotiated the acquisition of its first trolley. Even while serving in Italy during World War II, he remained actively involved in the museum’s growth. His dedication laid the foundation for what the museum is today — a 17-acre site that welcomes over 30,000 visitors each year. A devoted historian, editor, and publisher, Roger produced more than 80 historical publications. He was a charter member of the @EastWindsorHistoricalSociety, a longtime trustee of Wesley United Methodist Church, and collaborated with Michael DeVito on the book East Windsor Through the Years. He also donated the land that became Borrup Road, providing vital emergency access to the Prospect Hill Drive neighborhood. Since his passing in 1987, Roger’s legacy lives on—through his family, his town, and the generations who continue to discover the museum he helped bring to life. #TheConnecticutTrolleyMuseum #EastWindsor #EastWindsorHistoricalSociety #HartfordFoundation #CommunityLeader #CommunityImpact (fb)
