Feminist Acrobatic Dance LAVA became a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation under the name Volcano Love, Inc. in February 2000. LAVA's founder, Sarah East Johnson started working in 1994 to developand perform artistic works that combine dance, theater and acrobatics. Volcano Love's mission is to present LAVA productions as well as to offer instruction in acrobatics and dance to a diverse population of children and adults. LAVA is a troupe of artists who develop and perform original works thatcombine dance, theater, and acrobatics. At the LAVA Studio in Brooklyn,NY, ensemble and community members train and teach LAVA's rigorous,creative, and inclusive movement language to children and adults.
