$6.6 billion. That is the expected economic benefit for Searsport and surrounding communities from the construction of an offshore windport, according to a new analysis from the Natural Resources Council of Maine. Clean energy means lower energy costs and good jobs. Full stop. And, this windport will do just that, bringing more energy online to reduce costs, creating more than 6,000 jobs during construction, and sustaining nearly 1,000 jobs annually through 2050.
