Sunday February 23 2025 3pm Saunders Trades and Technical High School183 Palmer Road Yonkers NY Black History Month Take a tour from classical to modern blues to soul with music by Florence Price William Grant Still Scott Joplin Adolphus Hailstork Samuel ColeridgeTaylor Edward Kennedy Duke Ellington and others featuring viola soloist Amadi Azikawe and a rousing gospel choir finale with the Antioch BaptistChurch Choir. YPO will be joined by AseAmenRa Kariamu a skilled West African drum maker and gourd artist. He performs Afrikan Drumming a west African tradition where stories are told and culture is celebrated through drums and dance.
