Established by the Branch family in collaboration with the Maine Principals' Association and the Maine Swim Officials Association, this scholarship celebrates the legacy of Christopher Branch, a beloved figure in Maine swimming whose life was defined by five virtues: work ethic, selflessness, responsibility, honesty, and compassion. Our combined Waynflete-Falmouth co-op Ultimate teams (known as FLEET) brought home state titles on Saturday! The boys’ team defeated South Portland (10–7) and Freeport (13–4) en route to the finals, where they faced top-seeded Cumberland. FLEET rose to the challenge and captured the championship with a 10–7 victory. The girls’ team was equally impressive, posting decisive wins over South Portland (11–1), Cumberland (11–1), and Portland (11–0) before taking on Cape Elizabeth in the finals. After Cape scored the first two points, FLEET responded with four straight and controlled the game from there, winning the title 8–4. They also earned the tournament’s Spirit Award, a significant honor awarded by all participating teams in recognition of outstanding sportsmanship and embodiment of Ultimate’s core values of fair play and mutual respect. The mixed team also gave a dominant performance, defeating South Portland 13–1, Forest City (the three Portland schools) 13–3, and Cape Elizabeth 10–6 to win the state title. These victories complete a FLEET sweep of Maine titles, with our girls’, boys’, and mixed teams all crowned state champions.
