Just days after Nakba Day, the commemoration of the 1948 expulsion of nearly a million Palestinians from their native land, plans for another Nakba are underway. While details are still unclear, NBC News reports that the Trump administration and Libyan government have begun discussions around moving 1 million Palestinians from Gaza to Libya. Even if this specific “deal” falls through, it is clear that Trump aims to help prepare the ground for another Nakba. Just this past week in Qatar, he stated that he’d be proud to have the United States “take” Gaza and make it a “freedom zone” — echoing the sentiments from his AI slop “Trump Gaza” video in February. Mass protests against the war and occupation should be stepped up, embracing the methods of direct mass working-class action to shut down the war machine of arms production and shipping. And across the region and the rest of the world, mass parties of the working class must be built to clearly oppose war, the arms race, and all imperialist interests. At a historic political Conference in Huddersfield, England on May 10, leading figures from across Britain’s left came together to launch the People’s Alliance for Change and Equality (PACE) — a new movement bringing together local community campaigns, trade unionists, and social movements to build a working-class socialist political alternative. At the conference, the call for a national new left party to fight against both the far right and the centrist establishment was a rallying call for the 200 participants. Our sister organization, Socialist Alternative - ISA England, Wales & Scotland, was a key builder for this event, mobilizing from their workplaces, unions, and in social movements across the country.
