Sunny has been with us for SEVEN MONTHS, and we can’t believe he’s still waiting for a home. This two-year-old ball of energy is sweet, playful, cuddly, and incredibly trainable. He just needs the right match and a little support to help him thrive. Sunny loves long walks (he’s a rail trail regular!), playing with toys, snuggling with his favorite people, and learning new tricks. He’s crate trained, house-trained, hops into the car like a pro, and settles well when given a cozy space and something to chew. He’s been great on field trips with our staff and even goes on buddy walks with dogs he knows and trusts. But shelter life is wearing on him. Sunny is starting to struggle emotionally, and we’d love to find him a pet-free committed adopter who can give him the structure, love, and patience he deserves. While Sunny should be your only dog, he could have well-matched dog friends to go on walks with. Meet Ekko. He’s just a few months old, full of snuggles and tail wags… but his heart is in serious trouble. When Ekko came to us through our MASS Coalition partner, Berkshire Humane Society, we discovered a loud heart murmur. After a full cardiac workup, our cardiology team diagnosed him with severe pulmonary valve stenosis, which is a narrowing of a valve that’s blocking blood flow and overworking the right side of his heart. They also found a hole between the chambers of his heart. Left untreated, Ekko could go into congestive heart failure at any moment.But there’s hope. Our cardiology experts are preparing to perform a balloon valvuloplasty, a delicate procedure to open the narrowed valve and restore blood flow. The hole in his heart adds serious risk, as he may struggle to get enough oxygen during surgery. But if anyone can help him through it, it’s our team. This is where you come in.
