#tbt A few years ago, we were contacted by someone whose grandmother worked for the Hooper family, the second family that owned the mansion that stood next to ours. She sent a copy of a letter from March 1888 that shows Mrs. Hooper asking if her grandmother would like to work again at the home when the family returns from California. The Mansion was owned by 3 families Lewis White, Robert Hooper, and then William Mckinney. The house was built in 1870 and torn down in 1937. The house followed plans designed by Isaac Perry. If you compare the Phelps house to this one you will see a lot of similarities. (fb)
