🌍 Markets shape more than just economies – they influence how we live, what we value, and how we solve society’s biggest challenges. That’s why we’re proud to present the Handelsbanken Chair in Philosophies of Markets together with the launch the Center for Philosophies of Markets , made possible through generous support from the Handelsbanken Research Foundations. Professor Hans Kjellberg – a leading researcher in market studies – will lead this new interdisciplinary center. His work has long challenged the idea that markets are neutral or fixed. Instead, markets are made and remade through norms, actors, and ideas. As the world changes, we need to rethink what markets are for. Should they only deliver efficiency and profit? Or can they also foster fairness, sustainability, and resilience? This center will bring together researchers from across disciplines to build foundational knowledge about markets as social and cultural phenomena. By asking the deeper questions, we aim to spark new ways of thinking about markets – and ultimately, about how we want to shape society. 📢 This is more than a research initiative.
