We empower communities to transform underused public spaces into welcoming destinations where the power of free, live music brings people together and invigorates community life.The Foundation's primary funding areas include permanent Levitt venues and the Levitt AMP [Your City] Grant Awards. Both of these programs feature free, family-friendly concerts in outdoor, open lawn settings; acclaimed, emerging talent to seasoned, award-winning performers in all music genres; a musician-friendly ethos in that all artists are paid for their performance and enjoy professional sound and lighting; and concert sites that are accessible to a wide range of socioeconomic groups. As such, these programs reflect the Foundation's core values to support projects that are: • Catalytic – to empower communities to transform neglected or underused public spaces into vibrant destinations• Dynamic – to develop and support programs that are responsive to the needs of individual communities and spark a ripple effect of positive impact• Joy – to create environments where the power of music and the outdoors bring people together for socializing, dancing and picnicking • Inclusivity –to champion free, family-friendly programming, with multiple opportunities to attend, in accessible and open lawn settings where all feel welcome• Connectedness –to foster opportunities for people of all ages, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds to meet, mingle and share an experienceIn 2016, free Levitt concerts will be presented in 22 towns and cities across America. Permanent Levitt venues are located in six cities, each presenting 50 free concerts every year featuring acclaimed artists in all music genres. Permanent Levitt venues are managed, programmed and supported by a local Friends of Levitt nonprofit organization. The Levitt AMP Music Series is taking place in 15 small to mid-sized towns and cities this summer and fall, each presenting 10 free concerts. Every year, more than half a million people of all ages and backgrounds gather to mingle, relax or dance in Levitt's beautiful green settings.
