Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation

Follow Message Edit

The primary mission of the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation (LCEF) is to be a catalyst for the development of the distinct cultural industries of Louisiana by promoting the economic health and quality of life of our cultural economy workforce (self-employed individuals, nonprofits and businesses).  LCEF’s programs provide education and resources that grow our cultural industry and assist the efforts of our cultural workers.  Our programs support our cultural workers’ ability to earn a decent living and maintain a respectable quality of life.   Louisiana’s cultural economy industry is the fastest growing business sector in our state. With 150,000 jobs, it is second only to our healthcare industry.  Cultural workers make up almost 8% of our state’s workforce.  The majority of these workers are low income wage-earners.  They include cultural producers working in music, film, performing and visual arts, culinary arts, literary arts and humanities, historic preservation and traditional culture bearers.  LCEF’s programs serve these cultural producers.  This industry and its workers are often overlooked both as a relevant sector of the economic community, and in relation to specific support and services.  LCEF's services are vital to solidifying a healthy vibrant cultural economy workforce, and for Louisiana’s continued recovery and growth.
