Putney Ski Club
Overview
The Putney Ski Club is a nonprofit organization located in Vermont, classified as a 501(c)(3) organization. Its primary mission falls under the Recreation & Sports category, focusing on providing skiing activities for youth and fostering a community of individuals who enjoy skiing and winter sports.
Programs
Putney Bill Koch League
One of the key programs offered by the Putney Ski Club is the Putney Bill Koch League, a youth ski program designed for children aged 4 to 14. This program welcomes participants of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced skiers, with the overarching goal of promoting fun, skill-building, and camaraderie in the snow.
The Putney Bill Koch League practices are typically conducted on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, often at the Putney School ski trails. The organization utilizes any available snow-covered areas for practices, ensuring consistent activity throughout the winter season.
Registration and Fees
The club offers a structured registration process, with options for renting equipment at a reasonable cost. For the season, rental fees include skis, boots, and poles, and are set at $100. First-time participants are eligible to have their rental fees covered by the club. Membership dues start at $50 for children under 8 years old and $85 for those aged 9 and above. Scholarships are available for families facing financial constraints.
Financial Status
Given its nonprofit status, the Putney Ski Club likely relies on donations, membership fees, and local community support to maintain its programs and services. While specific financial details from recent filings are not publicly disclosed beyond the last filing in 2016, the organization's focus on community recreation and youth development aligns with typical nonprofit goals in similar sectors.
Affiliations and Events
The Putney Ski Club is part of a broader network of ski clubs in New England, specifically under the umbrella of the New England Nordic Ski Association (NENSA). This affiliation allows participants in the Putney Bill Koch League to engage in regional races and events throughout the winter months, culminating in the annual BKL Festival, which celebrates youth cross-country skiing in the northeast.
The club's involvement in such events helps foster a sense of community and competition among young skiers, promoting both physical activity and social engagement during the winter season.
