THE PRIMARY GOAL IS TO WORK WITH LOCAL, STATE AND NATIONAL PARTNERS TO ENSURE THE OBJECTIVES AND MISSION OF THE INSTALLATION ARE MET. THE ALLIANCE RECOGNIZES AND SUPPORTS THE INSTALLATIONS ROLE IN SERVING ITS MILITARY PERSONNEL, CIVILIAN WORKFORCE, MILITARY FAMILY AND PRIVATE CONTRACTORS.
Fort Meade Alliance Inc
The Fort Meade Alliance Inc is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the work and people of Fort George G. Meade in Maryland. Its primary mission is to foster economic growth in the region while providing critical support to the military installation and its community.
History
The Fort Meade Alliance was established nearly twenty years ago in response to the Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) deliberations. Initially, it was formed by a small group of military veterans and intelligence retirees who recognized the need for community support for Fort Meade. With guidance from the Maryland Office of Military and Federal Affairs, the organization grew steadily, focusing on BRAC and community engagement.
Mission and Activities
The Alliance advocates for Fort Meade's needs, ensuring the installation has the resources it requires for its critical missions. It engages in various initiatives, including:
- Education and Workforce Development: The Alliance supports educational programs and workforce development to enhance the skills and knowledge of the regional workforce.
- Business Connections and Community Support: It facilitates business connections between government agencies and private sector entities, fostering economic growth in the region.
- Quality of Life Improvements: The organization organizes events such as holiday toy drives and supplies snacks to the Wounded Warriors Transition Unit to improve the quality of life for military personnel and their families.
The Alliance also collaborates with the Fort Meade Alliance Foundation to manage charitable initiatives that support military personnel, their families, and the broader community.
Membership and Impact
With more than 280 members, the Alliance represents a diverse range of businesses and organizations in the region, including federal agencies, defense contractors, IT firms, and educational institutions. These members collectively employ over 100,000 people, underscoring the significant impact of the Alliance's activities on both the military community and the regional economy.
