#GoodMorningEveryone and welcome to the Hudson Valley Gives annual #DayOfGiving! We have 16 hours left to raise $10,000 for the animals at the Ulster County SPCA! Elsa is one of the dogs saved by #donors like you. She arrived as a stray in the absolute worst condition. She was a shell of a #germanshepharddog at only 47 pounds with hair loss over her entire body. Emaciated and covered in mange, she also had corneal scars, lyme disease, and hind end weakness. She spent a couple of weeks in isolation clearing of mange while also slowly gaining weight and allowing her eye to heal. She continued to struggle with balance and mobility, which only worsened. After much testing and specialty consultations, Addison's disease was ruled out, but degenerative myelopathy or intervertebral disc disease could not be. We continued strengthening exercises and supported walks along with chiropractic treatment resulting in slow and steady improvement in her hind end stability. Months later, and now at 66 pounds and walking without a sling, she finally met her #nextbestfriend! After several meet and greets, Elsa was finally going #home where she will never worry about missing a meal again or losing her beautiful coat. Elsa might not be running a marathon anytime soon, but this gal has found her #purrfectmatch who is more than happy to give her slow and steady walks and lots of snuggles on the couch. We're always amazed when such a sweet dog like Elsa doesn't have someone coming to find her, but we're so glad that she made her way to us so we could make her #healthyandhappy again!
