The Ferret Association is announcing the expected intake of 25 ferrets from Canada, who will be transported to the US in June. Ferrets are being retired from a breeding farm in Manitoba province. Many had originally come from a different breeding farm that shut down in 2022. As they are no longer considered prime breeders nor salable, these animals faced an uncertain future. Twenty females and five males have arrived at the local shelter. Once vaccinated and vetted, they will travel to Chicago where all will be spayed and neutered. A major undertaking like this depends on the help and assistance of kind & generous partners who share our dedication to the welfare of ferrets. It’s wonderful to see cooperation across two nations – the United States and Canada – to help these little creatures. We all believe each deserves the opportunity for life in a home, with care, freedom, and, especially, love. We want to especially thank the Manitoba Ferret Association; the Gtr. Chicago Ferret Association; Grant Park Animal Hospital; veterinarians Richard Nye, Steven Zary and Susan Brown in the Chicago area; the US shelters that will accept, work with and adopt out the ferrets; the Monmouth Cty. SPCA, and Stubby the Ferret. Additional individuals who have gone over & above to help include Martha Cannon (Chicago), Kerry Paulson (Winnipeg), Brittany Semeniuk (Winnipeg), Matthew Giuliano (New Jersey) and Albert Picewicz (New Jersey). We also recognize the efforts of Animal Justice (Canada), who initially brought our attention to ferrets in need. The Ferret Association estimates direct expenses will be approximately $7,000. If you watch this, YouTube's algorythm will lead you to others in the series. BTW, the frog voice in the series is a dead ringer of My Name Is Musky dad Matty.
