MMTA hit the road to Northern Maine Community College for their Career Fair yesterday! Students had the chance to learn about different careers in the trucking industry—like commercial driving, diesel technician work, freight handling, and office support. We shared what each job looks like and talked about the steps to get started, including training options and what to expect early on. To bring the industry to life, we challenged the future workforce to show us what they’ve got. Through our virtual reality setups, students had the chance to operate a forklift in a freight handling simulation or hop behind the wheel of a loaded semi-truck to complete a delivery. Those who stepped up walked away with “Go. Your Way.” gear—hats, mini trucks, and more—to show they’ve got what it takes to thrive in this industry. We had an incredible turnout at our table and loved seeing so much energy and interest. Events like this are a great way to introduce the world of trucking in a fun and hands-on way—and we’re just getting started.
