Join us in congratulating Kinhaven percussion faculty John Bannon in his retirement from The Florida Orchestra this year. John concludes his time at TFO following an impressive spread of 41 seasons - percussionist ‘73-‘78, timpanist since ‘88. At Kinhaven, John has been an iconic educator, inspiring students every summer since 2006. For nearly two decades, John’s commitment to the percussion students of Kinhaven - a small, but mighty crew - has been legendary. Who can forget hearing his voice at the corner of almost every evening orchestra rehearsal, as he coaches the section in live time? In the last of these photos, we see students poring over John’s score from a faculty concert the summer of 2022.
