"I've Been To The Mountaintop" was the last speech given by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. before his assassination on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. This speech was given to a group of sanitation workers who were striking due to extreme mistreatment and poor working conditions. His stop in Memphis was part of the Poor People's Campaign, which began as a response to the extreme economic inequality in America.
