Heart To Heart
Every year over 1200 women and children come through our local battered women's shelters. Most leave their home with nothing but the clothes on their back and a suitcase. Heart to Heart provides basic necessities to these women and children from the time they first arrive at the shelter until they move into permanent housing. These women receive help from the shelter in the form of social services, abuse counseling, job training and housing, but the Shelter is unable to supply the small but important needs that the women and children have. We supply sets of blankets, towels, shower curtains, kitchen and cleaning supplies. We also supply age and gender appropriate toys and books for each child that leaves the shelter. To help maintain self-respect and a sense of pride, everything we provide for the women and their children is new or gently used. We shop wisely for the best bargains available.
