On April 7–8, the Auschwitz Institute’s Mediterranean Basin Programs team proudly concluded its fifth successful training for border police agents in Oradea, Romania! In partnership with the Border Police Agents Training School “Avram Iancu,” the two-day seminar "Strengthening Democratic Resilience in Border Spaces During a Global Migration Crisis," brought together 193 future border police agents for in-depth, applied discussions. Centered on a prevention lens and a human rights-based approach, the training emphasized how border work can uphold dignity, safeguard democratic values, and help prevent future atrocities—even amidst complex migration challenges. We are honored that this training is now a key part of the School’s curriculum, having reached over 1,000 border police agents to date! Photos by: Matei Demetrescu & Flavius Cora (fb)

The 2025 Global Raphael Lemkin Seminar for Genocide Prevention took place in Oświęcim and Kraków, Poland. Organized by the Auschwitz Institute for the Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities (AIPG) in partnership with Auschwitz Memorial / Muzeum Auschwitz, with assistance from the Claims Conference (Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany) and support from the German Federal Ministry of Finance Bundesfinanzministerium, this week-long program brought together 21 participants from 17 countries working in #AtrocityPrevention, #humanrights, and international #criminaljustice. Since 2008, AIPG has built a global network of over 11,500 alumni trained in the latest #GenocidePrevention strategies, fostering cross-border collaboration to prevent mass atrocities worldwide.
