The American Student Dental Association (ASDA) is a U.S. nonprofit organization dedicated to the welfare and interests of dental students.

History

ASDA was established in 1971. It developed from an earlier initiative known as the Student American Dental Association (SADA), which aimed to pave the way for a legitimate student voice in organized dentistry.

ASDA's mission is to protect and advance the rights, interests, and welfare of dental students. ASDA is structured as a network of chapters based at U.S. dental schools, with two delegates from each school serving as voting members of its House of Delegates. The organization represents more than 24,000 dental students across 66 U.S. dental schools and includes predental and international dental students in its membership. ASDA's membership categories include predoctoral, predental, and international dental students.

ASDA hosts several national events and conferences where members can network and advocate for the dental profession. These include the Annual Session, National Leadership Conference, and Regional Meetings.
