From Research to Conservation: Lily McLaughlin ‘25 Merges Biology and Art to Protect Keuka Lake. During her Field Period®, Lily identified over 100 invasive species threatening our watershed and transformed her findings into meticulously hand-illustrated educational posters that alert the community to ecological threats. “I hope that people who see my work will understand that invasive species can become a huge problem if they’re not managed properly,” says Lily, recipient of the 2024 Hazel Ellis Loomis Award for excellence in biological sciences. This project exemplifies the intersection of scientific inquiry and community engagement—preserving our region’s natural heritage through scholarly creativity. Recently featured on Bridge Street, Dr. Beth Jordan shared her occupational therapy expertise with CNY viewers. As Occupational Therapy Month kicks off this April, we couldn’t be prouder to spotlight our incredible Associate Professor and NYS Ambassador for the National Board Certification for Occupational Therapy. During her appearance on the popular morning talk show, Dr. Jordan quoted a well-known principle in OT: “It’s not what’s the matter with you—it’s what matters to you.” This mindset has guided her ever since 1987 when her dad’s workplace injury first introduced her to what would become her life’s calling. OT is all about empowerment—helping people through meaningful daily functions. We’re so fortunate to have passionate educators like Dr. Jordan representing Keuka College and inspiring our students every day.
